‘My London Olympics bronze medal has been upgraded to silver’
Earlier on Aug 30, the London Olympics 2012 bronze medallist’s medal was upgraded to silver after Russain Besik Kudukhov tested positive for a banned substance.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is yet to officially communicate the news of gold medallist Toghrul Asgarov’s positive dope test to the United World Wrestling (UWW), the governing body of Olympic wrestling.

An official confirmation is still awaited and a top Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) official told that even Yogeshwar’s dope test from the 2012 Games is yet to be cleared before he could be handed the medal.

Yogeshwar’s tests are also being conducted and once his dope test comes out clean, then only he will be handed over the silver medal. If Asgarov fails dope test too and Dutt clears his dope, then the Indian grappler will become the second Indian to win an individual Olympic gold, after Abhinav Bindra.

Yogeshwar, who failed to perform in this year’s Rio Olympics, had clinched bronze in men’s 60kg freestyle in London Games 4 years ago. This development comes as a pleasant surprise to the Olympic medal-strapped India.
Earlier, Dutt had refused to accept the silver medal and wished the deceased wrestler’s family keep it.
